Migrant Ministry North

Posted on by Glenn Estus

For the past few years, the Westport Federated Church has supported the Migrant Ministry North Program (MMN), a ministry among the migrant seasonal farm workers in Columbia, Saratoga, Washington, and Essex Counties in New York and in Addison County, Vermont. The ministry is affiliated with the Capital Area Baptist Association, but includeds churches of various denominations and is available to all who wish to serve the Lord in this Mission Field.  Participating in the ministry are numerous Pastors and dedicated Lay Persons.

This Ministry is necessary because there are 100s of migrant and seasonal workers within our communities--hidden from view without any contact with the Christian Church. This ministry brings together the workers and congregations thereby following the example of Christ's Great Commission (Mark 16:15).

Westport Federated Church's specific part in the MMN is helping to provide health kits of basic items such as shaving cream, razors, deodorant, wash cloths, hand towels, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, work socks, heavy combs, pens, pencils, writing tablets, etc.

The coordinator of the MMN is Bob Brilling of Scotia NY. (518) (229-4588)
